Fulham vs Leicester

Fulham on Saturday, August 24 won their first Premier League home game of the season 2-1 against Leicester at Craven Cottage.

Nigerian winger, Alex Iwobi’s 70th-minute winner gave Fulham victory over the visitors.

Wout Faes had scored an equaliser for the Foxes before the end of the first half.

However, Iwobi fired through the legs of goalkeeper Mads Hermansen to restore Fulham’s lead.

Emile Smith Rowe, a club record signing, opened the score in the eighteenth minute of play for the dominant Cottagers.

Faes’ equalizer came in twenty minutes later, but the goal was disallowed by referee Darren Bond because he thought Jamie Vardy had interfered with Bernd Leno in an offside position.

However, Bond who was prompted by the VAR, overruled the decision after viewing footage showing the Fulham goalkeeper moving Vardy out of the way.

After Iwobi’s goal, Leicester found it difficult to maintain possession and lacked a decisive edge as they attempted to rally for a late equalizer.

However, Wilfred Ndidi almost scored in the last seconds of injury time, when he slammed his shot straight at Leno.

For Marco Silva’s team, it is their first victory of the year after they lost 1-0 to a late goal in their season opener against Manchester United.
