EPL: Haaland scores hat trick as Man City beat Ipswich 4-1

Man City vs Ipswich

Manchester City on Saturday won Championship elevated team, Ipswich Town 4-1 at Etihad Stadium.

Belgium’s striker Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick as Man City proved to Ipswich how tough life in the Premier League can be.

After missing out on promotion for 22 years, the Tractor Boys are back in the top division, and they are off to a great start against the reigning champions thanks to a goal from Sammie Szmodics on his full debut, which he scored just seven minutes into the first half by putting the ball between Ederson’s legs.

However, their joy was cut short after Man City hit back with three goals within four minutes.

First Haaland equalized with a skillfully executed penalty, awarded after a review by the video assistant referee after Sam Allison had initially deemed Savinho had dived.

After that, Kevin de Bruyne took advantage of Ipswich goalkeeper Arijanet Muric’s lapse in concentration to score, and just 16 minutes later, Haaland made it 3-1 by going around Muric and finishing with a shot.

Leif Davis appeared to be hauled down by Brazil winger Savinho inside the area, and Ipswich had a strong claim for a penalty turned down, although Man City might have been much farther up after hitting the post twice.

Arguably the loudest cheer of the match occurred in the second half when Ilkay Gundogan, who completed his one-year transfer from Barcelona back to City on Friday, entered the game to celebrate his return to the team.

In the dying minutes, Haaland completed his hat-trick with a low drive from distance, just as it appeared that Ipswich had kept Man City to just three goals.

With the win, Man City has won both of its first Premier League games, whereas Ipswich, who lost to Liverpool in their first match, is still awaiting their first point following an incredibly tough start.
