Famous musical icon, Onyeka Onwenu, passed away on Tuesday, July 30 at the age of 72.

According to reports, Onwenu reportedly collapsed after her performance at the 80th birthday party of Stella Okolie, Chief Executive Officer of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

She died after being rushed to Reddington Hospital.

Hon Olaide Akinremi

Hon. Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi, the member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency died on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at the age of 51.

It was reported that Akinremi complained of a minor illness and died in the early hours that day.

He is the third House member to pass away since May 29 inauguration.

The House Spokesman, Hon. Akintubde Rotimi, announced the passing of Olaide.

Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams

The Chikun/Kajuru, Kaduna state Federal Constituency rep member, Ekene Abubakar Adams, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

Adams reportedly died after a protracted illness.

He was the Chairman of the House Committee on Sports until his death early on Tuesday morning.

He was elected on the Labour Party platform during 2023 general election.

He was formerly a general manager of Kada City Football Club in Kaduna and a former football player for Remo Stars.

Adams is the fourth member of the House to die since May 29 inauguration.

Charles Owoyemi

Charles Owoyemi, a seasoned television scriptwriter, passed away on Friday, July 19, following a brief illness.

Renowned filmmakers Ralph Nwadike and Tunji Bamishigbin Esq. in a statement announced the sad news of Owoyemi’s demise on Friday.

Owoyemi wrote more than fifty episode scripts for the New Village Headmaster between 1984 and 1990.

He also wrote the screenplays for another NTA network series called Second Chance.

Owoyemi co-produced the popular network soap drama Fortunes on NTA from 1993 to 1995 alongside Zeb Ejiro.

Notable actors and actresses who arose from his works include Segun Arinze, Liz Benson, Regina Askia, Ramsey Noah, Patrick AttahOkey Bakkasi, and numerous others.

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu

The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu passed away on Thursday, July 25.

The unfortunate news of his death was announced by his son.

The 82-year-old Iwuanyanwu passed away following a protracted illness, according to the announcement.

Iwuanyanwu is survived by his wife, Lady Princess Frances Iwuanyanwu, as well as several children and grandkids.

Ifeanyi Ubah

Politician and oil mogul Ifeanyi Ubah died on Saturday, July 27, 2024 in London, United Kingdom.

Born on September 3, 1971, the 52-year-old senator served as the senator who represented Anambra South at NASS.

The business man passed away in his hotel room in London after allegedly suffering a cardiac arrest.

He had traveled to the UK three days before his demise to attend his daughter’s graduation.

The Late oil mogul who was elected as a senator on the Young Progressive Party (YPP) platform decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in October 2023.

Onyeka Onwenu

In the 1980s, Onwenu started her musical career.

She dropped her debut album, ‘For the Love of You,’ at age 29 in the year 1981.

Since then, she has released multiple albums and singles, including the popular song “One Love.”

Onwenu has also acted in several Nollywood films and received multiple awards for her contributions to music and film.

She joined the Imo State Council for Arts and Culture in 2013 as its chairperson, and in 2016 she was named director general of the National Center for Women Development.

In 2011, she received the National Honours designation of a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).
